App Store now has over 700k apps, 250k written specifically for iPad.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy Note 2

This means war. Samsung is well armed this year unleashing its best and top of the food chain phones, phoneblets and tablets knowing well that Apple is doing the same and about to hit harder. They made a very rare move by releasing both the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in the same year.

I will put the facts down but as much as we want to put the Galaxy S3 in the same league with its rebooted sister – the Galaxy Note 2, that would be unfair, the Note 2 is a Phablet whilst the former is a smartphone with some calling it a bigger Galaxy S3. Nevertheless, comparisons are important.

Let’s summarize the facts.
1. Network
Both get points for Quad band networks in both 2G n 3G, LTE for 4G with the Note 2 having LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100.

2. Dimensions
The Note 2 wins here with a 5.5″ Super AMOLED screen  720 x 1280 pixels. The S3 has a 4.8″ Super AMOLED screen 720 x 1280 pixels.

3.Memory
Both come with options of 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memories with options of up to 64GB for the SD cards, the S3 has. RAM of 1GB while the Note 2 doubles that to 2GB.

4. Camera
They both have 8 MP cameras with 3264×2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization with the S3 having Simultaneous HD video and image recording at 1080p@30fps and their secondary cameras at 1.9 MP.

5. OS
The S3 came with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and a  Exynos 4412 Quad Chipset while the CPU houses a Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 processor. The Note 2 will come with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a Exynos 4412 Quad Chipset and the CPU houses a Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, clocking a little bit faster than the S3.

6. Battery
The Note wins again here with a Standard battery, Li-Ion 3100 mAh while the S3 has 2100mAh of the same.

7. Price
The prices for both differ in all the continents. In the US the S3 goes for $599 while the Note 2 is predicted at $650 of course after their carriers offer contracts their prices fall considerably.

Samsung has over the last few months enjoyed a booming steady sale of its Galaxy S3 with the big question being, will the iPhone 5 beat those numbers?
Well, Apple shares are up about
$14 (2%) following the company’s
legal win against Samsung which was found to have infringed on
several mobile device patents owned by the Apple, awarding Apple more than $1 billion in damages.
And that’s why this morning’s Apple’s stocks were into a high of  around $676 per while Android
OS maker Google dipped about 1.3% in morning trading to around $669.
This legal win is also a booster for Apple’s iPhone 5.

Cloud technology is still growing and the latest implementation is the new Android Smart TV dubbed “ICE SCREEN” based on cloud allowing users to access TV, games and other web features from the cloud.

The technology is brought to you by Tencent, the largest internet company in China and  TCL Multimedia who jointly built the 26 – inch smart TV with a 1366 x 768 and houses a dual – core Cortex A 9 1 GHz processor , a Mali 400 GPU , 4 GB of RAM and support for a memory card of up to 32 GB in size . An IR remote and an app for devices sporting version 2 .2 or higher of Google’s OS can be used to control the tube, which can sit horizontally or vertically in its stand . On the
connectivity front, the panel packs Wi – Fi, a pair of USB ports, HDMI and a 3 .5 mm headphone jack.

It has  four main core applications consisting of:
1. Large portable screen
2. High-speed video player
3. Stylish music and photo album
4. HD video communications

Price is $315 (Ksh 26,400)

He missed the putt for another bogey to fall six shots behind eventual champion Rory McIlroy. It was the latest example of Woods playing well early in majors, then watching things go sideways on the weekend. Woods wouldn’t say why he changed, only that he won’t do it again. “I was trying to enjoy the process,” Woods said.
“But that’s not how I play. I play full systems go, all out, intense, and that’s how I won 14 of these things.”
Woods, though, has gone four years without winning any majors. McIlroy
blew away the field with an eight-stroke victory. The 23-year-old from Northern Ireland played 13 shots better than Woods over the weekend.
And Woods said “He’s very good. We all know the talent he has”
“I’ve won my second major at the same age as he had,” McIlroy said.

Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3

10,000,000+ million sales and counting, those are the sales numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S3. But even before comparing these two, have in mind that the following iPhone specs are rumors. The iPhone 5 release date is September 12, 2012.

My Scoreboard results:

1. Body: The Galaxy S3 measures 71 x 137 x 8.6mm and 133g, the leaked iphone cases on the other hand suggest that the next iPhone will be just 7.6mm; 1mm less than the Samsung Galaxy S3Scoreboard (iphone +1, galaxy -1)

2. Display: Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8inch Super AMOLED screen, 1,280 x 720 resolution while the iPhone 5 is rumored in at  4inch screen IPS, 1,136 x 640 resolution. Scoreboard (iphone -1, galaxy +1)

3. Processor:

iPhones are certified to ARM mobile processor style, therefore this might just imply that iPhone 5 will have the same quad core processor as its predecessor, the current-gen iPad runs an A5x chip with a quad-core GPU, and a dual-core CPU. This means maybe the the iPhone 5 chip will be an update of the A5x, the A6 but with a lesser resolution screen than the iPad, it may not need those two extra central cores. A win for the Samsung Galaxy S3 which on the other hand utilizes a Exynos 4412 chipset and quad core CPU that runs at 1.4GHz. Scoreboard (iphone -1, galaxy+1)

4. Prices:

This is definitely another score for the Samsung Galaxy S3, prices differ in many places but range from Ksh60,000 (USD705) in Kenya, USD691 in South Africa. The cheapest comes from AT&T at USD 199.99 on a 2year contract and USD549.99 without contract. The iphone 5 on the other hand is rumored at USD800. End of story. Scoreboard (iphone -1, galaxy +1)

5. Connectivity: 

Big change here, the 30-pin connector used across iPods, iPads and iPhones in favour of a 8pin or 19pin connector. This will be a BIG disappointment to those with various iphone dock devices in their cars and all over since the new iPhone will not work on those connectors.

“The audio electronics inside the iPhone are at the bottom left of the circuit board, explains an unnamed engineer on Quora and there is no space for the headphone plug at the bottom of the device, this means that a long flex cable is needed to route the signal to the top of the device, where the headphone jack is, this adds to the cost of manufacturing because of the complex cable needed to run through the entire phone, and also adds a few minutes when the phone is being put together on the assembly line. Moving to a smaller connector would allow space for the headphone jack at the bottom of the new iPhone (just as reports indicate), as well as lower production costs” The Samsung Galaxy S3 lets you use microSD cards and uses the microUSB standard. Handily, it’s MHL compliant, too, able to output HD video with surround sound audio to an HDMI port when used with the right cable you can drag and drop files when plugged into a computer over USB unlike the iPhone which uses the sync function. 6. Camera

– Its rumored that the iphone 5 patented for a 3D Camera. If this is true, believe me this would undo everything on my scoreboard, that would be amazing!

its also rumored to have multi-focus feature that will let you choose several points in a scene that you want to be perfecty clear and sharp. Both phones however show an 8MP camera with the Samsung Galaxy S3 having an ability to record a full HD 1080pquality video. Scoreboard (iphone +2, galaxy +1)

7. Battery:

iPhone 5 has a rumored 1430mAh (TBA) while the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 2100mAh. No competition here the Galaxy has taken out even the HTC One S (1800mAh) and the Sony Xperia S (1750mAh). Scoreboard (iphone -1, galaxy +1)

8. Software

Apple’s iPhone runs its own iOS software, iOS 6 is expected this September maybe in time to coincide with the iphone 5  while Samsung’s Galaxy S3 uses Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and a TouchWiz overlay. 9. Storage

Batman’s Bat crashes into the sea and your seats inside the movie
theater rumble back and forth…and the water splashes on your face. In the latest bid to attract moviegoers back to theatres where 3D is already common, technology companies are pushing in a new system known as 4D.

IMAX 3D movies are currently the best things we have in theatres…watching Spiderman throw a web at ur face is just so real…normally after an IMAX movie…2D or 3D I get “hangovers” like I want to go back in and stay all night…Dark Knight Rises was in 2D but IMAX Cameras are so awesome you move with the cameras everywhere…flying with them!

What if…u actually felt spiderman’s web touch your face? What if your chair actually moved when cameras move, say while James Bond is sky diving. What if you felt the feeling of Selina driving the Lambo Aventador in Dark Knight Rises? What if you felt water and fog in your face while watching Ice Age? That’s what 4D is all about…its not actual geometrical 4 Dimension BUT 3D with Physical Effects.

4D physical effects are expensive to install and are usually presented at special venues, such as theme parks. Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong, Nepal, South Korea, India, and the U.S., have some movie theatres with the ability to present a 4D film, and Avatar was one of 10 films tihat have received the effects.

Its all about Simulation. Motion simulators are widely used in these types of theatres.

Lots of companies like CJ Group of South Korea are already installing the software in theatres. They hope to furnish nearly 200 U.S. movie theaters with equipment that will move seats, emit scents and perform other special effects.

4D physical effects are however not new to us.

1. D-Box Technologies of Canada launched moving seats in North
American movie theaters in 2009 with “Fast & Furious,”

2. Director William installed buzzers in theater seats for his 1959 horror film “The Tingler.”

3. Filmmakers heightened onscreen action with in-theater odors. Smell-
O-Vision was used in the 1960 movie “Scent of Mystery,” it had 30 odors (brandy, flowers and gunsmoke) across the audience.

It takes 16-20 days to program the 4D effects into a movie and about $2 million to build a 4D theatre.

Touch screens have been one of the greatest inventions second to a pain killer…can u imagine a world with no pain killers? Before pain killers…pain was a killer…before touch screens keypads were noisy all over. However before touch screens big fingers were fast in typing without auto correct screaming at them.

A holographic keyboard and also known as the Virtual Keyboard in the field of electronics is a Bluetooth-enabled Keyboard that can be connected to almost any
computing system (laptops, PCs, PDAs, Pocket PCs or smartphones, and they must be Bluetooth enabled
It projects via infrared, a holographic
keyboard on any flat opaque surface.

It works just like an item counter…
1. There is a laser device connected to ur phone/computer.
2. The laser directs a beam of light to a NON REFLECTIVE surface through a Diffractive Optical  Element (DOE), which is simply a tiny image of the keyboard. The DOE, along with special optical lenses, expands the image to a usable size and projects it onto a
surface.

How do u type?
3. At the bottom of the laser device is a red diode emitting IR (Infrared) beam parallel and invisible to the image of the keyboard on ur desk… i.e. After u type, (u kinda break the “circuit”) a CMOS(complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor)images your finger’s position within the area of the keyboard, and a special sensor chip called a Virtual Interface Processing Core analyzes the location of the intended keystroke. The device then sends this info to the computer receiving the commands.

Rumors are that the iPhone 5 will come with an inbuilt device for the virtual keyboard but its very impossible…first its expensive, power consuming and will make the iPhone huge as opposed to this image.
